How is Therapy Initiated?
At Natural Smiles Dental Care, our Myofunctional Therapist (Jessica Emmert) offers customized therapy sessions to a wide range of patients. After an Initial comprehensive exam, Jessica will go over the findings with the patient (or parent) and recommend a specific therapy plan best suited for individual needs.
Jessica’s background in dental hygiene, combined with her Myofunctional Therapy training, makes her well-suited to work with patients of all ages. Anyone interested in tongue-tie (frenectomy) procedures at Natural Smiles is first required to be seen by a Myofunctional Therapist, as this service is critical to success. Please call Natural Smiles Dental Care office at 651-483-9800 in order to schedule an appointment with Jessica at Mint Myofunctional Therapy. |

What Does Therapy Look Like?
A comprehensive exam appointment is the first step. We evaluate your myofunctional needs and identify any disorders that are present. We then discuss concerns you have and form a plan of action.
Therapy sessions are 30 minutes long every 2-3 weeks. In between sessions there are specific exercises to be done daily. Exercises take 5-10 minutes and are done 2-3 times daily. We also address proper breathing techniques. Therapy duration is dependent on the individual needs of each client – but one can typically expect a 6-12 month commitment (12 sessions). Personal commitment is key to the success of therapy.
